EMBS Engineering has been exclusively retained by a well-established, highly reputable advanced manufacturing precision engineering business in Northampton to identify an Engineering Manager, to join their business on a permanent basis.

Due to internal movement with existing personnel, it has presented an exciting opportunity to attract an Engineering / Manufacturing or Technical  Manager who operates within highly regulated, precision engineering environments, with a sound understanding of machining and manufacturing engineering.

Our client has built their reputation of being a market-leading business in the design and manufacturing of highly complex metallic components for high-profile industries including Motorsport.

The role entails managing a team of Manufacturing Engineers to ensure manufacturing success through fast development and small production runs of the whole spectrum of components across all projects.

The successful candidate will be a natural leader with strong motivational skills and the personal drive to improve the business, develop strong teams and build excellent relationships with customers and suppliers.

Main focus points will be:
  • Management and development of existing engineers, providing technical assistance and support
  • Lead and implement investigation and continuous improvement activities and strategies 
  • Support Operational Teams with incoming quotes and estimates
  • Work closely with other internal departments - Design, Sub Assembly, Honing, Plating and communicate effectively

Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate: 
  • Minimum of 2 years + Management experience within positions such as; Engineering / Manufacturing / Technical Management
  • Operated within precision engineering / advanced manufacturing environments that manufacture parts through machining processes to highly regulated industries such as; Automotive, Motorsport, Aerospace, Defence, Nuclear etc.
  • Strong understanding of machining and associated processes - offline programming
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing 
  • Previously worked to ISO/AS standards
  • Ability to problem solve, investigate and provide solutions effectively 
  • Knowledge of ERP systems ideally but training will be provided
  • Agile approach with the ability to pivot and adapt to new demands and fluctuating workloads
  • Worked within a fast paced environment 
  • Ability to develop and implement training plans and upskill new and existing team members
  • Planning and Scheduling experience 

 In return, our client is offering:
  • Stability / Longevity: Permanent position
  • Competitive salary: £57,000 - £63,000 p.a
  • Hours: Days (40 hours)
  • 35 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays + the opportunity to increase after length of service
