EMBS are working in partnership with a forward-thinking, reputable, award-winning precision engineering company that specialises in the manufacture of complex components through various detailed machining methodologies.

Located in Nottinghamshire, our client supplies into some of the worlds most lucrative OEM's and tier 1 organisations, across a number of industry sectors including Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Nuclear, MOD, amongst others. Due to continued growth, we are in the market for a Quality Engineer to join a small yet talented team of Quality individuals, working on a permanent basis, for a company that boasts over 35 years experience.

Individuals will be experienced quality personnel who have previous backgrounds in working for precision engineering companies that manufacture sub-assembly, critical components through machining capabilities and can therefore pull from past experiences to offer new / alternative solutions to help increase / improve results, efficiencies, and deliverables.

 

Reporting to the Quality Manager, main duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the quality function in releasing parts to customers within set timescales and more importantly customer / industry standards
  • Provide positive leadership on quality matters within the organisations and promote the adoption of best practice
  • Liaise with customers - verbally and written including skype calls, telephone conferences, writing and submitting technical queries, concessions, quality plans and procedures
  • Work closely with the supervisors & machinists ensuring all NCR's are processed in a timely manner. Provide coaching and offer technical advice when required 
  • Help reduce & maintain the cost of quality
  • Use of quality tools and lean manufacturing principals such as; PPAP, MSA, SPC, PFMEA, 8D, 5Y, Fishbone, Ishikawa, Kaizen etc. in order to improve quality, identify problems, provide solutions / corrective actions and look at alternative methods
  • Support internal and external audits to ISO and AS standards
  • Assisting the Quality Manager to adapt the QMS when customer, statutory and regulatory requirements change
  • Provide technical support to the organisation by resolving product / process issues from customers, operations and the supply chain

 

Critical success factors for this role, required by applicants are:

  • Previous Quality Engineering experience within a precision engineering company - ideally supplied into Aerospace, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Defence or Motorsport
  • Knowledge / working experience within organisations that possess machining capabilities
  • Involved with sub assembly, small to medium sized components
  • Worked with various materials including exotics (Hastalloy, Inconel, Duplex, Titanium etc.) as well as standard steels
  • Knowledge in Root Cause Analysis, Problem solving and Corrective actions, including all associated tools and activities - 8D, 5Y etc.
  • Understanding and knowledge surrounding - PFMEA, SPC, PPAP and MSA
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to carry out internal and external audits
  • Worked to ISO9001:2015 and AS9100 rev D standards
  • Knowledge surrounding Lean Manufacturing including 5S
  • Experience / understanding or trained in Material Properties would be a distinct advantage but is not essential
  • Proficient in using Microsoft packages and MRP systems - desirable
