X4 Mechanical Fitters wanted (Contract or Permanent positions available), Wolverhampton, West Midlands based 

 

EMBS Engineering is working exclusively with a well renowned, market leading, engineering company that has been established for well over 100 years.

The business specialises in the manufacture, design, assembly, test, installation and commissioning of bespoke, custom products for a number of lucrative industries including petrochemical and defence.

Due to new projects wins and longstanding current customer relationships, our client is in the market for X4 Mechanical Fitters (x2 permanent, X2 contract positions available).

This position is a mechanically minded persons dream job. You will have the chance to be involved in the build, assembly, installation and commissioning of products which are usually One Of A Kind. Unique, bespoke products is this companies speciality and with that comes the satisfaction of building something no-one else has done before. 

The role will require candidates to think on their feet, think logically and problem solve on a regular basis.

You will predominantly be based for the large majority of the time at Wolverhampton however there is occasional site work in the South West which you will be required to do. Expenses including site bonus and accommodation will be paid for by the company.

 

Responsibilities and duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Installation, fitting, building, dismantling and stripping of sub assemblies and components
  • Assembling and maintaining of transmission systems & mechanical drive systems 
  • Recording and processing measurements to aid fitting procedures
  • Stamping, etching & deburring
  • Measuring & marking out to specific drawing dimensions
  • Use of hand and powered tools 
  • Use of larger equipment / machinery such as pedestall drills, grinders etc.
  • Carrying out repairs and/or corrective actions on assemblies when required
  • Perform on the job audits
  • Support and liaise internally with other departments such as; Commissioning, Test, Design etc.
  • Produce Snag Lists
  • Interpret route cards and build documents (MITPS)
  • Understand the need and work to Risk Assessments, Permits etc.
  • Use of Scissor lifts, overhead cranes, FLT etc.

 

Successful applicants MUST be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong mechanical fitting background within a heavy duty engineering environment - typically industry sectors which have been successful in the part are; Petrochemical, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Structural Construction but others will be considered
  • Previous background in bespoke mechanical fitting or machine tool building would be advantageous 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings 
  • Knowledge of schematics would be beneficial
  • Ability to perform installation, fitting, stripping, building and dismantling of large, complex, bespoke components
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulics
  • Ability to measure and mark out to specific drawing dimensions
  • Confident using hand held and powered tools
  • Knowledge and experience of using larger machinery / equipment including; drills, grinders etc.
  • Basic machining knowledge - manual milling and turning would be advantageous but not essential
  • Produced snag lists
  • Work to high standards 
  • CSCS card is required for site work
  • SC21 clearance is preferable but not essential

 

In return my client is offering:

  • Stability & Longevity - Permanent positions as well as contract 
  • Contract length: 12 months +
  • Hourly rate: Permanent - £19 per hour / Contract - Negotiable depending on experience
  • Hours: 37 hours
  • Shifts: 6-2,2-10 and Days
