Technical Engineering Estimator wanted! Permanent, Northamptonshire based


EMBS are working in partnership with a well established, precision engineering company that offers a diverse range of manufacturing capabilities, supporting various precision industry markets. 

Located in Northamptonshire, our client is seeking an Engineering Estimator to join their business on a permanent basis, and support on-going and future enquiries. 

The successful applicants will be based onsite, working within a small team of skilled engineers, liaising with new and existing customers regarding RFQ's and in turn, will be providing detailed estimates and quotes for lucrative Tier 2, Tier 1 and OEM's.

Candidates must be able to perform this duty from cradle to grave - obtaining the technical quote, whether that be in drawing form or detailed instructions, identify a method of manufacture through various manufacturing capabilities, predominantly surrounding machining, and then interpret costs, hours, labour, materials, tooling, specialist equipment (if needed, sub contract support (if required) and present a formalised quote to the end customer.

The business has very strong machining capabilities amongst others, therefore any successful applicant MUST be confident in estimating on machined components.

This position offers variety and challenges as well as stability and longevity.


Responsibilities include:

>Working with customers and suppliers to provide quotations for work

>Preparing cost budgets and cost estimates for existing and new customers

>Preparing proposals and tenders tailored to client needs

>Balance multiple proposals and estimations before designated deadlines

>Purchasing of key equipment and materials

>Provide technical support for subcontractors and suppliers


Successful candidates will be required to demonstrate:

>Extensive precision engineering background within a manufacturing engineering business 

>Sound understanding of machining - CNC & Manual 

>Strong estimating and planning experience within a critical manufacturing sector

>Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

>Ability to be able to identify a route / method of manufacture from raw material stage

>Ability to understand and demonstrate a product life cycle within a manufacturing environment

>Ability to work in a fast paced organisation

>Strong communication & written skills
